Panasonic AU 360 D3
Composite Digital VTR

Introduced in the late 1980’s. It was widely used through most of the 90’s in production and post production. Its strong points, similar to the D2 format, were digital video recording (no analog dropout), 4 channels of digital audio, and nearly lossless multigenerational capabilities, including the new concept of “pre-read”. It was a direct competitor to the D2 format.
