A Special Restoration of the 1965 Low Band Videotape "It's What's Happening Baby" by DC Video

DC Video announces the completion of a very special (and complicated) restoration of a 1965 black & white low-band videotape titled: "It's What's Happening Baby", a 90 minute music special that aired on the CBS TV network. This star-studded program was recorded in several venues across the U.S. including New York City, Hollywood and Detroit Michigan. Popular music stars such Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Jan and Dean, Tom Jones, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Ray Charles, Herman's Hermits, Dave Clark Five, The Four Tops, The Drifters, Johnny Mathis, The Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes, Dionne Warwick and others performed.

The program recovery was a challenge due to many technical issues such as bad tape splices and inconsistent recording parameters. The program was transferred in sections and the final product was reassembled to its original length. The client indicated that previous transfer attempts were inferior and most likely, this final, remastered product is better looking that when it originally aired! Paperwork in the edited master container indicated that the on-air operator was going to be riding levels, channel EQ and control track phase from segment to segment due to the problems that existed. Our restoration has eliminated those inconsistencies.
